Psychological Entitlement Promotes Striving for Status in Social Hierarchies

Abstract
Psychological entitlement promotes motives and emotions related to status in social hierarchies. In four studies (total N = 1753), entitlement promotes motivation to attain status in the forms of prestige and dominance, triggers affective processes that motivate status pursuit, and generates other-rated dominance, but not prestige.
