Close Relationships: Examining the Unique Role of Felt Security in the Management of Existential Death Anxiety

Three studies endeavored to ease an enduring debate within the area of terror management theory and close relationships, concerning the unique role that felt security plays in alleviating non-conscious mortality concerns. Findings suggest felt security might not be suited to alleviating non-conscious forms of death anxiety. Theoretical implications are considered.
