Media Primes Characteristics of Child Abduction Victims and Sexual Predators

Abstract
Participants were primed with local child homicide stories or an AMBER alert and estimated the likelihood of characteristics for child sexual predators and child sexual abuse, abduction, homicide, and trafficking victims. Results relate to differences between perceived and actual threat behaviors, with implications for increased effectiveness of preventative awareness programs.
