Symbolic Sequence Effects on Judgments of Truth

Abstract

Using supraliminal and subliminal studies to rule out demand effects, we demonstrate that statements rearranged to have cause and effect stimuli that conform to symbolic sequences stored in the mind (A____ causes P____) elicit significantly higher judgments of truth than statements that are not rearranged to conform to symbolic sequences.
