The Impact of “Developing Scientific Explanations Tool” on Scientific Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning Writing Scores of Middle School Students

Abstract

This study investigated whether “Developing Scientific Explanations Tool” (DSET) significantly increased middle school students’ scientific Claim on writing scores. A convenient sample of 6th (N=117), 7th (N=102) and 8th (N=71) grade students participated in this study. Results demonstrated significant increases for all students on scientific Claim writing scores.
