Abstract

I hypothesize that standard diversity initiatives promote zero-sum thinking (the belief that gained resources for one group come at the cost of another) which hinder their effectiveness and lead to backlash. I examine how framing diversity as inclusive of all groups affects perceptions of traditionally advantaged and underrepresented group members.
