Abstract
This study examined participants’ categorizations of ‘open’ and ‘closed’ versions of disgust facial expressions embedded in emotional contexts (disgust, anger, fear, sadness, joy, and neutral). Results indicate that the physical similarity within discrete categories of facial expressions is mutable and produces differential contextual effects.
