Abstract

Previous research has linked measures of social engagement to positive cognitive outcomes in older adults. We explored the association between working memory and social engagement in middle-aged adults. Social engagement was used as a measure of cognitive reserve. Participants who reported higher levels of social involvement had higher working-memory capacity.
