Abstract

General cognitive ability and past performance predictors are used for academic selection, often resulting in adverse impact. An alternative Study Skills Knowledge Test predicted academic success and accounted for variance beyond high school GPA and SAT scores. Thus, the test showed both predictive and incremental validity in predicting college success.
