The Effect of Cultural Tightness on Mathematics Performance Among Talented Students

We investigate the influence of cultural tightness on individual performance in mathematics. We find support for an S-shaped relationship between cultural tightness and performance: math scores decrease at low levels of cultural tightness, but increase (or plateau) at moderate levels and decrease again at high levels of tightness.
