Asian Americans and Materialism: Exploring the Phenomenon and Its Why and When

Three studies (five samples) found that Asian Americans, compared to White/European Americans, were more likely to endorse materialistic values via increased extrinsically motivated aspirations. Also, a general tendency to adhere to norms drives Asian Americans to endorse greater levels of materialism than White/European Americans.
