Abstract

The current study investigated how the difficulty level of just-prior items influence people’s resolve, confidence, and difficulty choice, on a current question. In 3 experiments, we found that prior item difficulty influenced all three factors, to varying degrees, but especially if the prior and current items shared the same domain.
