Studying Perspective Taking in Romantic Relationships Using Drawing and Writing Tasks

Abstract

Using drawing and writing tasks, we found that taking the perspective of one’s romantic partner led geographically-close participants to pay more attention to the context of their partner and to be less self-anchored compared to those asked to remained objective. The opposite effects occurred for long-distance romantic partners.
