Abstract

This study explored the implications of tightness-looseness theory, a comprehensive framework describing variation in the strength of social norms and sanctioning across cultures, on occupational characteristics and their contextual associations. Varying levels of occupational tightness-looseness, as related to threat, were found to correspond negatively with creativity and order, respectively.
