Better Together? Comparing Combined and Single-Strategy Approaches to Emotion Regulation in Daily Life

Keyword: GoalsAbstract: Using ecological momentary assessment with 156 participants, we examined the effectiveness of combined (interpersonal and intrapersonal) versus intrapersonal emotion regulation strategies in daily life. While combined strategies better regulated emotions, intrapersonal strategies excelled at problem-solving. This study advances understanding beyond single-strategy approaches, suggesting effectiveness varies with regulatory goals.
