Professional Development: Academic Job Market Tips I: How to Polish Your CV and Write a Teaching Statement
Bold your name in citation lists. Specify the names of courses you’ve taught. Consider listing the impact factor of each journal that has published your work. These were among the tips offered up at a July 3 Professional Development webinar hosted by APS. Baylor University senior lecturer Karenna Malavanti and Colby College psychology professor Christopher Soto shared tips on polishing your CV and writing a teaching statement when applying for academic positions. They also discussed the qualities and experience they look for among the researchers whose applications they review.
