Beyond Feeling Good: Positive Emotions As Engines of Social Connection
Positive emotions do more than provide benefits to the self, they connect people. This symposium showcases evidence that empathy enhances meaning, collective pride motivates prosocial behavior, enacted love fosters affiliation even with strangers, and hope arises from interpersonal sources. These talks highlight the socially connective functions of positive emotions.
