Investigating Environmental Determinants of Psychopathology: Towards a Contextualized Clinical Science
Environmental processes are under researched determinants of psychopathology. Across diverse methods—spanning functional imaging, ecological momentary assessment, and qualitative methods—we demonstrate how environmental factors impact personality, internalizing, and suicide psychopathology. These empirical results illustrate the importance of integrating environmental context within clinical science scholarship to improve understanding of psychopathology.
