Make Psychology Less Weird Again: Diversity In Samples, Researchers, and Questions
Psychology is diversifying samples and researchers, but far less its questions. Drawing on Ramadan fasting, Iranian honor norms (e.g., Qeirat), contextualized well-being in Kenyan informal settlements, and ManyLabs Africa’s agenda-setting model, this symposium shows how research rooted in diverse contexts generates different constructs and theories than simply exporting WEIRD agendas.
