Abstract

Parental skills are powerful predictors of children's outcomes. While distal genetic and environmental pathways contribute to familial transmission, its proximal neural mechanisms remain poorly understood. Using neuroimaging in mother-child dyads, I will show that there is familial similarity in the neural bases of math skills and discuss its potential origins. These findings have implications for our understanding of familial risk for learning difficulties.
