The Brain in the Social World: Integrating Approaches from Social Neuroscience and Social Network Analysis
- Carolyn Parkinson
University of California, Los Angeles
Abstract
This talk examines how humans encode, navigate, shape, and are shaped by their real-world social networks. We find that people spontaneously encode others’ network positions when encountering them, and that this knowledge shapes cognition and behavior. We also examine how shared understanding both contributes to and emerges from social connection.
