From Semantic Knowledge to Cultural Evolution

Human culture depends on how individuals generate innovations and learn from others. Combining behavioural experiments and agent-based modelling, I show that semantic knowledge guides innovation, while reinforcement learning shapes how people use social information. Together, these mechanisms link individual cognition to the collective dynamics underlying cumulative cultural evolution.
