Behavioral Assessment of Social-Emotional Skills In Kindergarten Children: Method Effects of Group-Based Assessments

Abstract
We observed children’s cooperative behaviour, social engagement, emotional control, and task performance in standardized group situations using the Behavioral Assessment of Social-Emotional Skills (BASES) in a sample of about 1600 4-5-year-old children. We investigate systematic biases of the group-based assessment and the measures' reliability/validity for children with different family backgrounds.
