Abstract
Comparing 348 Latino immigrants, food insecurity was higher in Mexico (87%) than in the U.S. (45%). While cardiovascular biomarkers showed no association, food insecurity was linked to increased psychological distress. These findings emphasize the severe mental health toll of limited food access and the complex, context-specific nature of social determinants.
