From Childhood Financial Stress to Campus Life: Long-Term Effects of the Subprime Crisis on College Students’ Mental Health and Academic Performance

Abstract
Using Healthy Minds data, we examine college students (aged 0-6 during 2009 subprime crisis) from severely affected states. We investigate if this early exposure to economic distress is associated with poorer mental health and worse academic performance later in college.
