Abstract

Our study examined whether temperament predicts inattentional blindness in 6- to 8-year-olds. Children’s noticing rates resembled adults’ rather than older children’s patterns. Effortful Control significantly predicted detection of the unexpected object, suggesting that children with better attentional regulation are more likely to overcome inattentional blindness.
