Abstract

Odors are subjectively vivid memory triggers. Despite this, retrieval success has shown no significant advantage when cued by odors. In fact, this study found higher levels of false details were reported for odor cues, suggesting expectations for odor cues may lead people to set different criteria for reporting recollection details.
