Abstract

A cross-lagged panel model examined sleep problems as a mediator in associations between socioeconomic status (SES) and children’s reading skills, math skills, internalizing symptoms, and externalizing symptoms. Sleep problems mediated relations between SES and later internalizing and externalizing symptoms even controlling for child age, sex, grade, and prior symptom levels.
