Abstract
Black Cognitive Joy(BCJ) theorizes the interdependence of cultural pride, cognitive flexibility, and affective engagement in Black students.Through mixed-method analysis in an African-centered school,I demonstrate how culturally grounded joy functions as cognitive activation.Findings aim to challenge deficit narratives and reveal Black students' navigation of multiple identity schemas within culturally situated cognition.
