Abstract

Stronger afterlife beliefs correlated with longer Future Time Extension (FTE), whereas stronger atheist beliefs correlated with shorter FTE. Imagined post-lifetime events were consistent with participants’ belief systems, with believers more likely to imagine self-focused events and atheists not imagining the self after death even when the task required they do.
