Abstract
Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are prevalent globally and are detrimental to the health and well-being of the population. This umbrella review synthesizes 19 systematic reviews and meta-analyses to explore how ACEs impact brain structure, function, and connectivity, which can lead to deficits in mental health, cognitive functioning, and social-emotional wellness.
