Developing an Evidence-Based Screening and Risk Model for Comorbid Trauma and Suicidality Among Pediatric Psychiatric Inpatients

Youth exposed to trauma—especially minoritized youth—face high suicide risk yet rarely receive appropriate diagnosis and care. Inpatient units offer crucial intervention opportunities, but trauma is under-assessed. This proposed project develops an EHR-based machine-learning trauma screener and tests how socio-ecological stressors increase suicidality through trauma, aiming to improve diagnosis and treatment.
