Abstract
Participants recalled a negative autobiographical episode and were randomly allocated to Cognitive Reappraisal or Self-Compassion emotion regulation strategies. Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS) was also assessed. Both strategies produced a decrease in negative affect post retrieval; only self-compassion enhanced positive affect with no moderating effect of SPS.
