Abstract
This study investigated the association between adolescents’ perceived levels of social competence and their use of specific facial movements to convey emotions. Adolescents who reported higher perceived social competence used more facial movements prototypical to happiness when expressing this emotion, suggesting upregulation of signals of positive affect in emotional communication.
