Abstract
Psychological and socioemotional flexibility were examined in 366 younger and older adults. Older adults showed higher flexibility and lower depression. Network analyses indicated that cognitive fusion related more strongly to depression in older adults. Negative interpretations predicted depression in older adults, whereas positive interpretations protected younger adults, revealing age-specific mechanisms.
