Abstract
Parents’ emotion coaching, expressed affect, and dyadic mutuality were coded as parent–child dyads (N=115) discussed past emotional situations. Parents showed the lowest affect and mutuality during conversations about parental disappointment. Emotion coaching was highest during conversations about shared sadness and parental pride and lowest during shared happiness.
