Abstract

Stress shapes connectivity within brain networks, but different stress constructs have distinct effects. Using graph-theoretical analyses, we found that perceived stress predicted reduced default mode network segregation only among individuals with higher recent stressor exposure, potentially reflecting stress-sensitization processes and providing insight into neural mechanisms underlying variability in mental health.
