Abstract

Using survey data from 1,265 income-based housing residents, we examined predictors of informal social control under HUD’s smoke-free policy. Path models differed by smoking status: among smokers, perceived legitimacy of housing the authority buffered negative impacts of low social cohesion/trust on informal social control; this moderation was absent for non-smokers.
