Signals of Success: Predicting Multiple Performance Outcomes from Teacher Ratings

Abstract
We examined validity for college and career performance measured between 5-10 years after teacher recommendations (N=4,221). Range restricted corrected ratings showed validity for college (r =.42), explaining variance beyond cognitive ability for academic (ΔR2=.05) and leadership (ΔR2=.03) outcomes and significant prediction of job performance (r = .16).
