The Weird Essence. Evidence of Cultural Bias In Psychological Meta-Analyses

We analyzed 322 meta-analyses published in the Psychological Bulletin between 1988 and 2023. 92% of samples used in these meta-analyses and 98% of authors originated from Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic (WEIRD) countries. Our results have important implications for the interpretation and implementation of results of meta-analyses in psychology.
