Abstract

The current research examines psychological and behavioral correlates of political outgroup moral derogation (POMD; perceived political outgroup deficiencies in norm adherence). Correlational and factor analyses suggest POMD is unrelated to ingroup feelings but is positively associated with negative outgroup perceptions, disengagement from the outgroup, and ironically, support for democratic backsliding.
