Racism As a Relational Stressor: Implications for Attachment and Relationship Satisfaction

Abstract
This study examines how trauma, insecure attachment, depression, and race-based stress predict relationship satisfaction among Blackand non-Black couples using national survey data. Black individuals reported lower satisfaction. Attachment insecurity, trauma, anddepression predicted poorer outcomes, highlighting racism as a relational stressor and underscoring the need for culturally responsiveinterventions.
