Moralisation By Analogy: A Novel Perspective on Moralisation and Moral Change

Abstract
Moralisation can drive social change but also intergroup conflict. Yet, little work has examined the psychological mechanisms whereby people come to moralise actions. We propose and demonstrate that moralisation of normally neutral actions can occur via analogical reasoning, providing a novel theoretical perspective on moralisation that opens new research avenues.
