Abstract
This study examined how caregiver distress relates to emotion socialization (ES) among a nationally representative U.S. sample of Latine caregivers (238 mothers, 233 fathers). Leveraging survey data on role overload, worry, mental health, and responses to children’s negative emotions, distress predicted greater non-supportive ES, with effects amplified among higher-income caregivers.
