Abstract

Black and Latino adolescents often use high-effort coping (John Henryism) to navigate chronic structural stressors, yet sustained effort may carry health costs. In the proposed research, we examine how structural stressors and high-effort coping interact to shape cardiometabolic risk (BMI, BP, lipids, HbA1c, CRP) and internalizing symptoms (depression and anxiety).
