Abstract
Facial expressions should constitute (dis)incentives for implicit motives. In a Sternberg task, implicit power motive intensity and dominant/submissive faces were expected to modulate effort-related cardiovascular responses. However, the affiliation motive, and not the power motive, predicted cardiovascular responses depending on the experimental condition, suggesting an overlap of motive-relevant features
