Abstract
We investigated cognition-emotion integration in extrinsic academic motivation. Forty-one participants (Mage = 20; 30 females) were recruited to complete an emotional interference choice reaction time task. We found that extrinsic motivation influenced attention to negative stimuli and high levels of extrinsic motivation are associated with greater sensitivity to punishment.
