Technology Optimism Declines with National Wealth but Rises with Achievement-Oriented Values

We collected representative survey data from 25,000 participants in 25 countries, including a multi-item measure of technology optimism and standardized questionnaires measuring individual values. We show that both national economic context and individual achievement orientation predict technology optimism, identifying key psychological and societal determinants of public attitudes toward technological change.
