Abstract
Using retrospective chart review of 1,106 (613 Females) hospitalized adults with bipolar disorder, we estimated type 2 diabetes (T2DM) prevalence and clinical and metabolic correlates. Multivariable analyses showed T2DM (10.9%) was associated with older illness onset, longer duration, higher triglycerides, lower HDL, and valproate/olanzapine exposure, underscoring routine metabolic monitoring needs.
