Abstract

Two studies (combined N = 217) showed that online metacognitive skills(measured with a novel dedicated scale) reduced the influence of contentcongruency on social media post truthfulness ratings, especially for apolarising topic. The results illustrate how metacognitive skills cancontribute to robustness of critical evaluation of information online.
